Expertise: Changing people’s lives and creating a better world through architecture.

An alumnus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of New South Wales, Dr Lu founded Ronald Lu & Partners in 1976 on the premise that architecture has the power to change lives and make the world a better place. He continues to believe this today. Among the hundreds of projects on which Dr Lu has worked, he particularly enjoyed collaborating with the master architect Frank Gehry on Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre at Tuen Mun Hospital, a space that provides a healing experience and promotes mental wellness in cancer patients, their caretakers and families through its carefully-designed features.

Dr Lu is also a passionate golfer and is always up for a match!

Expertise: A strong advocate for human-centric, future-ready, sustainable architecture and design, Bryant is a Cornell University alumnus and has been an RLPer since 2000. Bryant has devoted his career to reshaping the architecture industry by raising awareness of sustainable design. Under his leadership, RLP has become a pioneer in sustainability throughout Asia, and has won over 300 awards – 60 of which recognise RLP’s sustainability-related efforts. Bryant has always been hands-on with RLP projects throughout Asia, and is particularly keen on promoting transport-oriented development in mainland China. He feels these projects create large-scale positive impacts, especially in places where urbanisation is happening quickly.

His multidisciplinary focus at work follows him at play – Bryant is just as well-rounded as an athlete: You can find him on the golf course, on the ski slopes, or at triathlon races!

Expertise: Extensive experience in conceptual planning, project implementation and construction procurement of complex projects in both the public and private sectors. He has led numerous projects focusing on sustainable and innovative design.

Alumnus of the University of Hong Kong and an RLPer since 1983. Andy has worked on so many projects, it is impossible to choose a favourite. To him, it is always the next project that he looks forward to. Why? Because it can be a better project, one in which RLP will excel by exceeding the client’s and stakeholders’ expectations while contributing to our built environment and the entire community.

An avid traveller, Andy believes that building a better world involves seeing and exploring as much of our planet as possible.

Expertise: Design-oriented projects, large and small, with a particular passion for super complex TODs.

In 1998, Anthony came to RLP as an alumnus of Columbia University and the University of Southern California. In his youth, Anthony was inspired by his cousin, an interior designer, to begin drawing houses. Of the many projects on which Anthony has worked, the HKYWCA Sydney Leong Holiday Lodge is his number one. This was his first design project at RLP and the one which established his career. This humble but architecturally brilliant building is functional, striking and blends perfectly into its natural surroundings.

It's no coincidence that Anthony loves the outdoors – hiking, nature walks and especially orienteering – his home is actually filled with orienteering trophies his has won over the years!

Expertise: Sustainable design and future city concepts that will create a carbon-neutral future and a biodiverse urban environment.

An alumnus of the University of Cambridge and the University of Hong Kong, MK is a true philosopher and thinker. Since joining RLP in 2008, he has worked feverishly to change the world with own hands – architecture is his way of making his ideas real and contributing to building a better world. His most satisfying project so far is the CIC Zero Carbon Park – a truly sustainable design and something that had never been done in Hong Kong. Over the years, ZCB has shown great adaptability and has kept evolving through the years – providing a beacon to the community and showing that a net-zero future is possible.

MK loves kids because they are full of hope. He also loves dogs and wouldn’t mind becoming a dog trainer after he retires.

Expertise: Taking a design from the intangible to the tangible and realising tiny details.

A graduate of the University of Hong Kong, Eugene became part of RLP in 2001. He takes a philosophical approach to design, believing that there are no fixed answers in the architectural world, rather, everything is a combination of creativity, experience and memory. This is why he enjoyed working on Larvotto so much – working with essentially a blank canvas and designing a unique interior plan complemented by a floor-to-ceiling curtain wall.

Eugene describes himself as a foodie with a strong mahjong-loving streak.

#DesignGreenerLife

Expertise: Well-known for his work in project design and development, particularly in mainland China. His key strengths are the ability to produce innovative solutions that overcome constraints, and deliver projects of the highest quality and design standards.

An alumnus of the University of Hong Kong, Guymo joined RLP in 1995. Before that, he studied art history in high school, falling in love with the Baroque style at first sight. Since then, this has been his core driver: finding successful designs which touch people and connect with their souls. This happened with Integral in Guilin – a project in which all the stars aligned: it was a successful, idealistic design with the right client and right team in the right place at the right time.

Guymo has also kept his artistic streak – to gain inspiration or solve a problem, he enjoys wandering the streets of Hong Kong, listening to music and absorbing the city’s energy.

Expertise: Fast-track projects, multidisciplinary projects from inception to implementation, devising statutory submission strategies for large-scale projects.

An alumnus of the Bartlett School of Architecture at University College London, Kenneth came to RLP in 2010. His most favourite projects are those that provide a lively, happy environment for users. Both Victoria Dockside and Salisbury Garden met these criteria – these are complex mixed-use development and regeneration projects which stretched his skills and allowed him to work with a large group of international consultants who have since become his friends.

An avid Marvel and sci-fi film fan, Kenneth occasionally takes a morning swim before work when time permits.

Expertise: Luxury residential developments, complicated mixed-use developments.

A graduate of the University of Hong Kong, Alfred joined RLP in 2001 and has since amassed over 20 years of architectural experience in local projects. His desire to create better living spaces for one and all drove him to become an architect and he still loves designing homes for people. His favourite project is Larvotto, a residential project on the Ap Lei Chau waterfront. Why? Because this was the first project he worked closely with his wife from design to completion. They also got married while working on this project.

Alfred and his wife also love travelling. Their safari tour to Kenya and Tanzania was an unforgettable experience for both of them.

Expertise: Civic architecture for social, cultural, leisure, and sports enjoyment.

An alumnus of both the University of Hong Kong and the University of Houston and an RLPer since 1992, Peter has taken training in art since he was a boy. He has both an artistic and a poetic sense for architectural design, meaning that projects under his direction not only achieve design excellence, they have also won numerous awards. His most memorable RLP project so far is the Ko Shan Theatre New Wing – the first purpose-built theatre for Cantonese Opera and the first public theatre designed by a private practice in Hong Kong. Its design ethos, being “a theatre in the park” and “a park in the theatre” has set new design standards for future theatres in Hong Kong.

Peter has green fingers, which he modestly says are “probably genetically inherited from his father and grandfather.”

Expertise: Super high-rise towers and full-suite architectural services – from design and statutory submission to construction documentation and contract administration.

Arthur has had an instinctive flair for design since he was young. A graduate of the University of Tasmania, he joined RLP in 2010, taking his design instincts into the professional world to provide stylistic solutions to urban challenges. His work on the Tianjin Chow Tai Fook Finance Centre was nothing short of masterful – in addition to creating an iconic building, he built close ties with the project team, consultants and the client’s team as they worked together to reshape and rehabilitate an entire city district, turning it into a place where people not only want to work and live, but gather and enjoy themselves.

Arthur’s recipe for proper work-life balance includes a large amount of travelling and plenty of artisanal coffee.

Expertise: Comprehensive residential and commercial developments, institutional and educational facilities in Hong Kong and mainland China.

Matt loves master planning and retail development, but his heart lies with design-oriented projects. An alumnus of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Matt already had a deep affection for practical architectural designs before joining RLP in 2011. This is why his most-loved project is Courtyard Residence, a unique green residential tower in heart of densely-developed Mongkok in Kowloon. Beautiful and practical, to Matt, this project perfectly illustrates how sustainability and development can work together in harmony.

His affection for practicality spills over into his personal life: his favourite pastime is playing snooker – determining the correct angles necessary to win every game.

This project reflects his architectural philosophy of "simplicity and elegance in design." He can even see the completed office building from his home, which brings him a great sense of satisfaction.

Expertise: Public buildings and railway-related projects.

Growing up in Lower Ngau Tau Kok estate gave Kin Hang an understanding that buildings and communities often have the same meaning and evoke the same emotions in the people living within them. Kin Hang believes that architects hold a great responsbility: to shape people’s experiences and help them create memories. This was his motivation for becoming an architect, spurred him to take up architecture in The University of New South Wales in Australia and drive him through the many late nights the profession requires since joining RLP in 2008. Kin Hang’s favourite project, the Tiu Keng Leng Public Library and Sports Centre, embodies this spirit and will help improve the lives of thousands of people for generations.

To relax, escape and gain new inspiration, Kin Hang likes to immerse himself in the martial arts universe created by Jin Yong - reading the books and the many analyses that go with them.

Henry’s passion for architecture began as a child, when he learned drawing and photography from his uncle. He began taking photos and making sketches of the streets of Hong Kong soon he was off! A graduate of the University of Hong Kong, he joined RLP in 2011 and immediately began working on numerous large projects. His favourite? Integral in Guilin, our unique industrial eco-garden project. Lisa found it easy to choose architecture at university, as she has always loved drawing cityscapes and has a deep appreciation for beautiful buildings. A graduate from the University of Hong Kong, Lisa came to work at RLP to help transform people’s lives by using architecture to make them happier and more comfortable. Her favourite project epitomises this motivation – the Hong Kong Baptist Hospital Block E. This was the first healthcare project with which she was involved, and it helped her learn about hospital operations and the various specifications and requirements that allow these buildings to cater to the differing needs to medical staff, patients, families, and the administration. When not busy working for other people, Lisa enjoys healthy, meditative pursuits like yoga, Pilates, swimming and diving.
