Expertise: Changing people’s lives and creating a better world through architecture.

An alumnus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of New South Wales, Dr Lu founded Ronald Lu & Partners in 1976 on the premise that architecture has the power to change lives and make the world a better place. He continues to believe this today. Among the hundreds of projects on which Dr Lu has worked, he particularly enjoyed collaborating with the master architect Frank Gehry on Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre at Tuen Mun Hospital, a space that provides a healing experience and promotes mental wellness in cancer patients, their caretakers and families through its carefully-designed features.

Dr Lu is also a passionate golfer and is always up for a match!

#DesignGreenerLife

Expertise: Well-known for his work in project design and development, particularly in mainland China. His key strengths are the ability to produce innovative solutions that overcome constraints, and deliver projects of the highest quality and design standards.

An alumnus of the University of Hong Kong, Guymo joined RLP in 1995. Before that, he studied art history in high school, falling in love with the Baroque style at first sight. Since then, this has been his core driver: finding successful designs which touch people and connect with their souls. This happened with Integral in Guilin – a project in which all the stars aligned: it was a successful, idealistic design with the right client and right team in the right place at the right time.

Guymo has also kept his artistic streak – to gain inspiration or solve a problem, he enjoys wandering the streets of Hong Kong, listening to music and absorbing the city’s energy.

#DesignHappierLife

Expertise: Design-oriented projects, large and small, with a particular passion for super complex TODs.

In 1998, Anthony came to RLP as an alumnus of Columbia University and the University of Southern California. In his youth, Anthony was inspired by his cousin, an interior designer, to begin drawing houses. Of the many projects on which Anthony has worked, the HKYWCA Sydney Leong Holiday Lodge is his number one. This was his first design project at RLP and the one which established his career. This humble but architecturally brilliant building is functional, striking and blends perfectly into its natural surroundings.

It's no coincidence that Anthony loves the outdoors – hiking, nature walks and especially orienteering – his home is actually filled with orienteering trophies his has won over the years!

Expertise: Business development; project coordination and management, especially for highly complex projects involving multiple partners and authorities.

When Isopel was a student, a verse written by Du Pu, a legendary poet-historian which asked “how can society create more houses for the less fortunate?” resonated deeply with her. Since then, she has been determined to improve people’s lives by designing better buildings for them. A graduate of the Beijing University of Technology, she joined RLP in 2004. Her most memorable RLP project is the Vanke Wonderland TOD Development in Foshan which was launched in early 2020, just as the COVID-19 pandemic began. Despite this less-than-perfect timing, Isopel and the RLP team worked with Vanke to push the project forward. Today, the project is one of the most talked-about projects in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cooperation High-end Service Demonstration Zone.

Her personal interests are fascinatingly varied: Isopel is a member of the Beijing Cultural Relics Protection Association, she is a fan of Chinese classical architecture and traditional culture, a fancier of Peking Opera and calligraphy, painting and seal carving. She is also an avid astronomy enthusiast and volunteers at Beijing Planetarium where she explains the mysteries of the universe to visiting students.

Expertise: Super high-rise towers and full-suite architectural services – from design and statutory submission to construction documentation and contract administration.

Arthur has had an instinctive flair for design since he was young. A graduate of the University of Tasmania, he joined RLP in 2010, taking his design instincts into the professional world to provide stylistic solutions to urban challenges. His work on the Tianjin Chow Tai Fook Finance Centre was nothing short of masterful – in addition to creating an iconic building, he built close ties with the project team, consultants and the client’s team as they worked together to reshape and rehabilitate an entire city district, turning it into a place where people not only want to work and live, but gather and enjoy themselves.

Arthur’s recipe for proper work-life balance includes a large amount of travelling and plenty of artisanal coffee.

Expertise: Sustainable design and future city concepts that will create a carbon-neutral future and a biodiverse urban environment.

An alumnus of the University of Cambridge and the University of Hong Kong, MK is a true philosopher and thinker. Since joining RLP in 2008, he has worked feverishly to change the world with own hands – architecture is his way of making his ideas real and contributing to building a better world. His most satisfying project so far is the CIC Zero Carbon Park – a truly sustainable design and something that had never been done in Hong Kong. Over the years, ZCB has shown great adaptability and has kept evolving through the years – providing a beacon to the community and showing that a net-zero future is possible.

MK loves kids because they are full of hope. He also loves dogs and wouldn’t mind becoming a dog trainer after he retires.

#DesignSmarterLife

Expertise: An acute sense of design and problem solving abilities. He provides “through-train service” from design to build, especially for highly complicated projects.

An alumnus of Guangzhou University, Liang joined RLP in 2004. He has always been partial to math, physics, spatial perception, and painting – so architecture was the perfect career choice for him as it combines all of these fields. The conceptual architectural design of Guangfohui and the surrounding urban area is a very special project for Liang – it was his first international competition. His design won first place and the bid, beating out nearly 100 international first-tier firms – a boost to his career and to the morale of his team.

Liang often sketches with his family when travelling, which he believes helps him appreciate the scenery. He is also a badminton enthusiast who has participated in several amateur competitions.

#DesignHappierLife

Expertise: High-complexity urban projects. Using space to shape the human spirit.

An alumnus of the University of Hong Kong, Jason’s love for design springs from the idea that architecture can define humanity’s interaction with interior and exterior spaces. After joining RLP in 2016, he put this philosophy into practice, creating designs in which a space accommodates people physically and nurtures them psychologically. The Wuhan Chow Tai Fook Financial Centre is his top project thus far, possessing the perfect combination of location and an excellent client team.

Jason is a travel enthusiast, believing that minds are broadened by observing and experiencing the wider world.

Expertise: Design and implementation of highly complex projects.

Eric is a graduate of Sichuan University who joined RLP in 2005. Here, he enjoys solving the many difficulties and contradictions encountered during the design process to create functional and even poetic buildings – this is a constant source of satisfaction for Eric. So far, he has most enjoyed working on the Tianjin Chow Tai Fook Financial Centre, where he participated in the design and construction of this super complex high-rise building. Having worked on the design for nearly 10 years, the project will always have a special place in his heart.

After work, Eric likes to go fishing to get away from the hustle and bustle and revitalise his spirit.

Expertise: Projects in mainland China – from the concept stage to the detailed design stage, including super high-rise, mega-comprehensive developments and corporate campuses.

Henry’s passion for architecture began as a child, when he learned drawing and photography from his uncle. He began taking photos and making sketches of the streets of Hong Kong soon he was off! A graduate of the University of Hong Kong, he joined RLP in 2011 and immediately began working on numerous large projects. His favourite? Integral in Guilin, our unique industrial eco-garden project. He cites the synergy and teamwork he enjoyed with the client’s highly-motivated project management team as they worked together to create a beautiful, meaningful place.

In his spare time, Henry reads and writes fiction, escaping to other gardens – those in his own imagination.

#DesignHappierLife

Expertise: Building digitisation. He likes this because if done right, a program can generate a building or even a city by itself, while he gets to relax…

Zhang Hua is a graduate of the South China University of Technology. He came to architecture for practical reasons: he scored so well in high school which enabled him to choose architecture, one of the most difficult faculties to get in, as his major. He always thought it would be cool to turn the buildings of his fantasies into actual buildings. After joining RLP in 2009, he has since worked on numerous projects in mainland China. His most memorable is Guangzhou Parc Central – this was his first project at RLP and it gave him great joy to design this unique and challenging development, creating a new central axis for the city that is viewed with great affection by the citizens.

Zhang Hua is a passionate filmmaker. One day, he hopes to film his autobiography – and perhaps even direct it.

#DesignHappierLife

Expertise: Full-suite architecture services, from design and statutory submission to construction documentation and contract administration. Highly familiar with TOD, office, commercial, and comprehensive developments in mainland China.

Chung, an alumnus of the Chinese University of Hong Kong who arrived at RLP in 2010, believes that architecture is one of the world’s most challenging occupations, requiring a rational and sensible personality. Each project architect faces a distinct, demanding set of circumstances and one must keep learning and moving forward. TODTOWN in Shanghai is his favourite project – as the first TOD project in mainland China, he had to overcome the enormous challenge of creating a “new thing” within an existing system. TODTOWN also marked the commencement of his new life in Shanghai, allowing him to make new friends in other fields, and exposing him to a myriad of different life stories outside of architecture.

He believes in constant exploration and takes this to the limit in his personal life – participating in many outdoor activities, all kinds of ball games, hiking, diving, surfing, badminton, cycling and more!

Expertise: Comprehensive large-scale projects with high complexity, especially TOD projects. Large-scale commercial projects and high-end residential projects.

Blessed with a creative imagination all his life, as a child Cyrus drew airplanes, cannons, robots and even designed chessboards to enjoy with his classmates. Reading about famous architects and unforgettable buildings in high school sealed the deal and after graduating from Guangzhou University, he came to RLP in 2008. His work on the design for the Shenzhen Pinghu Comprehensive Development competition is his most memorable – challenges involving a complicated railway track layout, diverse land and property ownership issues and the need to develop homes for almost 300,000 people all had to be solved. In addition to winning first place in the competition, he also won the trust and recognition of the client – a great success!

Cyrus has a strong attraction to the beautiful things of this world: he loves music and was a band member when he was in university.
