Parklin · Hill Cove is an international healthcare community located in Zhuhai’s National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone. This is a one-stop, health-focused complex providing professional healthcare, medical care, living, and residential services for the elderly.
Its human-centric, future-focused design uses the idea of a harbour as the primary design theme and “ocean waves” as the main recurring element. These concepts are echoed first and foremost by the shape of the building's façade – a giant ship. This creates a comfortable, safe and harmonious atmosphere from the outset, giving the elderly a sense that they are in a safe harbour: a secure, familiar environment.
Inside, the theme repeats through horizontally-stacked white ribbons that flow from the nine-metre-high double-storey lobby atrium into the sales centre, while undulating marble floor patterns echo the wave-shaped wall motifs. Ribbon elements and vivid colours add a flowing beauty to the exhibition hall, creating a soothing, pleasant space for all.
On the second floor, a feature wall adopts a poetic Chinese landscape screen pattern, symbolising the complex’s integration with the natural world. A glass curtain wall invites daylight into the sales centre, saving energy and reducing emissions. Meanwhile, intelligent elderly-centric lighting design combines non-direct light with anti-glare downlighting throughout the interior – this increases brightness and ensures safety for visitors and residents moving between zones. It also means residents can perform their daily routines comfortably and without worrying about eyesight limitations.
The design also plays with nature and green elements, with wooden furnishings and accents and green materials such as rugs, wallpaper and mosaic tiles placed throughout the lobby. This links outdoor greenery with the interior space, making the overall environment feel closer to nature and creating a comfortable, home-like experience for the residents.
Parklin · Hill Cove has three types of units which cater to different needs, as well as a professional medical care unit for elderly people who need long-term intensive care. Every unit is spacious and uses wood as the feature element, with light green and white beige as backdrop colours. The sofas and lounge chairs play with yellow and orange hues, creating a warm and relaxed environment in which to enjoy the superb views of the surrounding landscape.
All design work is focused on how to adapt to the needs and special requirements of the elderly, so the residents can enjoy independent, safe and healthy lifestyles. Circulation within each unit is optimised for the elderly and wide corridors throughout the complex ensure smooth and convenient access. Each unit is equipped with smart systems for residents including smart access controls, AI-based home systems, barrier-free bathrooms, non-slip floors, anti-glare lighting, an emergency call system, and others.
